PCR tests could be scrapped

Health secretary Sajid Javid is keen to scrap the UK’s current day two PCR test requirement for arrivals into the country.
Speaking to Sky News on Sunday (12 September), Javid said he wanted to end PCR testing for those returning to the UK “as soon as he possible could”.
Javid said he was aware of the cost to families holidaying overseas this summer, and said the rules should not be in place “for a second longer than is absolutely necessary”.

UK staycation onboard Disney Magic is a big hit.

I (Deborah at Explorer Travel) got to try for myself the Disney Magic this week and have had a great few days onboard this wonderful ship.
The staff, shows, food, restaurants and facilities are simply fantastic.
Highly recommend. I think my favourite restaurant was the Animator’s Palate.

Ryanair pulling out of Northern Ireland

Ryanair is pulling out of Northern Ireland. It is ending services at Belfast City Airport and Belfast International Airport in September and October respectively. It is ending its eight routes from Belfast City to eight destinations – Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Ibiza, Mallorca, Malaga, Milan and Valencia by 12 September.

Turkey Red List

Turkey is increasingly confident it will be removed from the UK’s travel red list this week. It has been on the red list since May,impacting all leisure travel,.The next traffic light review is on 26 August.

The Turkish embassy in London is upbeat about its chances with Covid cases declining. It says its vaccination programme is going well with more than half of all adults fully jabbed. It argues several countries already allow quarantine-free travel from Turkey.

Venice is set to impose its most stringent rules yet as it seeks to curb overtourism. La Stampa reported that several measures have been proposed to control tourism, such a fee to enter the city via an electronic gate system. It is set to be imposed by summer 2022.
